Adult Swim's Premier Fresh Series of 2025 Secures a Major Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.

In October of last year, Adult Swim welcomed back its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. But, not long after, the channel launched a completely new animated series with a distinctly unique vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be gentle and comforting, reminiscent of a animated take of a laid-back talk show. At a time often characterized by bleakness, this show's earnestness resonated deeply and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

In mid-December, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two more seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to develop the world of the Campbell family. The show centers on three respectful teenage brothers whose defining trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa voicing for all four key characters.

"I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," said Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

Executive Acclaim

In the same announcement praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He specifically highlighted the fans who discovered the show and supported its uniquely offbeat sensibility.

"All of you supported this new show, championed for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. It offers something unexpectedly cozy about observing this lovable family go about their everyday routines.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his goal to help comedy break out of its current layer of irony. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape.

“There's this level of irony that we are trapped in,” noted Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we just have to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

What Comes Next

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa may well be part of that change he described. If nothing else, the renewal promises audiences more opportunities to bask in the heartfelt moments of the beloved Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. All episodes is currently streaming on HBO Max.
