Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his future after a further convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to change things and secure a win naturally but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I feel the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” Jones stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase like this with results this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to the top, show everyone once more the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
