Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.

Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features Teor (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the actions of the third episode show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise started the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the team enter areas they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

From episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Strategists groups.

Audiences can look forward to discovering which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
