“Being 58, which suggests the choice could be mine in a few years, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. Luckily, it's not necessary. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about what circumstances would need to occur to bring him back to the dugout, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull toward coming back. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; No desire to be during downpours for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for media briefings repeatedly each week or doing numerous chats a week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, however, dining out with the players talking freely, I appreciate that. With many victories so there was often a very good mood in the building. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle vividly recalled to illustrate.”

Praise for His Successor

He commended regarding Arne Slot, praising him for the tweaks that took the title in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four in a row across various tournaments post heavy investment, but he rubbished the notion it could be a slump.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. An outstanding player. Ekitike, excellent performer. They have a strong balanced team. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of Jota, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, and the effect on Liverpool. Jota was killed in a car crash together with his sibling in July.

“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding his footballing ability, his personality mattered. I struggle to conceive the team environment missing him. I still cannot speak properly about it. It was an incredible shock for his teammates too. Not a single person will ever use it as an excuse though it's a fact. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Dealing with that on a personal level is difficult. Overwhelming.”
