The Austrian squad has revealed a major reshuffle for the 2026 Grand Prix year, promoting Frenchman Isack Hadjar to its main squad and awarding British teenager Arvid Lindblad his debut F1 drive.

The young driver, who has a Swedish father and a mother of Indian descent, is set to become team-mate to Kiwi driver Liam Lawson at the second team Racing Bulls.

This driver musical chairs means Japan's Yuki Tsunoda exiting the grid after five seasons.

The New British Hope

Lindblad has been identified as a rising talent by Red Bull from the age of 12 years old.

Regarding the team's junior academy, a key advisor noted last year that Lindblad "appears very talented", praising his "natural quickness".

Red Bull has had a plan for some time to prepare Lindblad for his likely F1 debut in 2026, featuring appearances in Grand Prix practice at the British and Mexican races.

The rookie said it was a "dream come true", commenting: "2026 will be a big challenge, and I know there's a lot to learn, but I'm eager to work closely with the team and step up. I can't wait to get started."

He has won a couple of victories in F2 this year and is sixth in the standings heading into the final round in Abu Dhabi.

The Frenchman's Chance

The Frenchman's debut season began on a low note when he spun out during the warm-up lap of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. But, from that point, he has emerged as one of the most impressive newcomers of the year.

He included an remarkable top-three result at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he lies 10th in the championship.

The team principal commented: "Hadjar has shown great maturity and demonstrated to be a quick learner. Most importantly, he has the innate pace that is the number one requirement in this sport. We believe he can thrive next to Max."

Hadjar described it "an incredible opportunity" and said he felt "up for the challenge".

Lawson Retains His Seat

To partner Lindblad at the junior team, Red Bull have opted for Lawson instead of Tsunoda.

The New Zealander began the season with the main team but was moved back early in the year. However, he has settled back in at Racing Bulls with some strong performances, persuading Red Bull he deserves more time.

The Japanese driver, meanwhile, has been ejected after a disappointing season. His best result is a sixth place, and he has scored a minor percentage of the team's points total.

These announcements confirm that there is also no place on the Red Bull programme for Irish driver Alex Dunne, who will continue in F2 for 2026.
