The Latest Relaxed Playlist Ignites Intense Discussions Regarding AI Players, Experience Points, and Wait Times

Recently, the game developers introduced a new game mode called Casual Breakthrough. In essence, this mode mirrors the standard Breakthrough setup but includes several key adjustments:

  • Every squad includes just eight human participants, with the rest filled by 32 bots.
  • Actions done by human gamers award full XP, while bot actions offer lower rewards.
  • Only two locations can be played: Cairo Siege and Empire State map.
  • Elements like Player tags, accolades, and career stat updates have been turned off.

In short, the playlist delivers on its title: it's a laid-back take of Breakthrough. At face value, you might think there's nothing wrong, as it gives more options for players seeking different ways to have fun with the game. But, if video games has shown one thing, it's that not everyone will be happy. Which is to say, a lot of BF6 players are mad.

Player Responses: From Fury to Praise

"Gamers prefer human opponents. Don't repeat the mistakes of your rivals," reads one reply to the official announcement. "Absolutely shocking concept," comments another. At the same time, on the Battlefield subreddit, one user notes, "I have no idea where we are headed with this game," while someone else lists all the issues they consider to be problematic in the game: "Resolve glitches, fix drone glitch, correct rocket mechanics, fix [the] bloom after sprinting bug, fix awful hit registration. We do not require this AI-heavy playlist."

However, for every complaint, some gamers explaining how much they're enjoying the new mode. "It's very fun to warm up, real players prevent it from being a total farmfest but it's quite laid-back," says one Reddit comment. "This subreddit fails to see that there are players who have lives and can't play this title all the time. Allow them to find a middle ground," adds a different comment. One reply via social media clarifies that as they're "a battledad with limited time, this is perfect for me," while someone else applauds the mode for "avoiding intense competition."

Constructive Concerns and Community Input

Despite the support, there are constructive reasons to complain about Casual Breakthrough. Some users have highlighted that it will make wait times even longer for other modes because of the sheer number of playlists currently available. On a similar note, certain regions often face mostly bots in the current modes. Additionally, it appears a little backwards that the mode won't start without a required amount of human gamers, despite it primarily centers on combat against bots.

Finally, a major complaints is that a previous feature was meant to provide complete rewards, even against bots, but that was removed when they tried to remove XP farming from the mode. So this new playlist seems like the community meeting them halfway, as per forum feedback. A different user labels this mode as the devs "making a mistake significantly, I experienced great enjoyment in the first couple of days, why did they feel the need to adjust it?"

Looking Ahead: Will Changes Occur?

If the development team has proven anything to date with Battlefield 6, it is that they're paying attention and responding to feedback. Assignments that were overly hard were adjusted very quickly, as did the required Redsec challenges. It is likely that, if their data shows this new playlist is underperforming to their expectations, they will not hesitate to change it again.
