Vince Zampella, a Gaming Pioneer, Has Died in a California Vehicle Accident

The visionary game developer, who helped create the immensely successful first-person shooter Call of Duty, has died in a traffic collision in the state of California aged 55.

Zampella's death was verified by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, the development studio that he helped create.

The celebrated game designer lost his life when his car crashed and burst into flames on a motorway in Los Angeles on Sunday, US media outlets report.

"We are facing an unimaginable loss, and our deepest sympathies go to Vince's loved ones, his loved ones, and the countless individuals inspired by his work," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts stated.
